OUR TEAM
Dorothy Thompson holds a Juris Doctorate and a Master of Legal Studies with an emphasis in Probate Law. Dorothy’s legal practice is focused primarily on Estate Planning and Administration - providing legal advice, personal guidance, and support to individuals who want to create a plan to protect and pass on their assets, and for those who find themselves in the position of managing or settling their loved ones’ estates. She also assists clients with conservatorships and with small business formation and dissolution.
In addition to her legal education, Dorothy has over twenty years of business management and accounting experience which followed on her Bachelor of Arts degrees in Economics and Legal Studies. This combined financial and legal background, along with her genuine interest in and care for her clients, places her in an excellent position to knowledgeably and compassionately advise according to each individual’s unique circumstances.
Dorothy is a member of the California Lawyers Association (Trusts and Estates Section), the Santa Cruz County Bar Association, the Santa Cruz County Estate Planning Council, Women Lawyers of Santa Cruz County, the Orange County Bar Association, the Trusts and Estates Section of the Orange County Bar, Orange County Women Lawyers Association, and the California Supreme Court Historical Society.
When Dorothy is not practicing the law, she is likely to be found practicing Aikido - “The Art of Peace.” She also enjoys surfing and singing, and adores waking up each day to a troupe of wet noses and wagging tails.
Kaylah Hampson is our Legal Assistant and office manager. She has earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminology and a Georgia Paralegal Certification. She lived in Australia, Alaska, and New York before landing in California. Kaylah enjoys interacting with clients and helping them to feel comfortable and welcome in the legal office environment. She also supports our clients by providing administrative information and documents, scheduling, and maintaining communications.
Maria Reis is our remote Paralegal. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California at Santa Cruz. She has lived all over the world and speaks multiple languages. Maria worked in the office for four years and is now attending Law School in Oregon. We are very excited to support her continued legal education.
